DeWalt DW718The DeWalt DW718 12-Inch Double Bevel Slide Compound Miter Saw takes cut capacity to the next level with the ground-breaking back fence design that delivers cut capacity up to 2 x 16 at 90 degrees and will cut up to 6-1/2″ base molding when standing vertically against the fence and supports 6-5/8-inch crown molding nested vertically. And when it’s time to make bevel cuts, the fence slides out of the way easily.

Designed to deliver quick and accurate bevel cuts, the DeWalt DW718 lets you easily set it up for bevel cuts that measure between 0 and 48 degrees to the left and to the right. This lets you flip the saw instead of the material you’re working on. It also gives increased capacity for big jobs. The DW718 has hardened steel bevel stops at 0, 33.9, 45 and 48 degrees on both sides, which makes it a simple process to find and set the most common bevel angles.

The DeWalt DW718 is sold by Amazon.com at more than 47% off retail! Click here now to make use of this fantastic deal. And don’t miss these accessories:

The DW718 has an easy-to-adjust cam-lock miter handle that delivers quick and accurate miter angles. Another feature is a convenient detent override, which allows you to adjust the miter setting without the saw slipping into the miter detents. And the DeWalt DW718 has added flexibility because of its big miter capacity – 0 to 60 degrees to the left and 0 to 50 degrees to the right.

Everything about this saw is very high quality. The fit and finish of all the components screams quality. The slide action is effortless. Adjustments and the locking components therein are very easy and intuitive to use. Very nicely designed. Click here for full customer reviews.

The DeWalt DW718 has some great features including:

The DW718 saw’s blade spins up fast and slows down fast. It cuts very nicely depending on what kind of blade you have on it, but even the included factory carbide blade makes excellent cuts in hard maple, oak, pine and composites. It does not slow down much during the cut.

One of the user reviews makes these points about the DeWalt DW718:

I was impressed by the presentation on the introductory DVD which exhibited the improvements, compact size, larger capacity, ease of miter and bevel adjustment and the new laser alignment system.

First, the quality of the saw, detents, table and overall build quality was excellent. I did have to make small adjustments to the red angle indicator arrows and the miter detent bar. The adjustments took 5 minutes and were easy to do.

The laser system is a real winner, and its illumination of the entire cut range of the saw, both vertically and horizontal. The laser will be a real time saver as well as improving the accuracy of my cuts, especially with cutting miters and bevels. If you buy the saw, get the laser system too.

The slide works very smoothly and the large horizontal handle is a nice feature. The miter and bevel adjustments are easy to make and the detents snap into place firmly. The DW718 is noticeably quieter than my older direct drive Makita. The saw brake stops the blade quickly and the blade guard returns rapidly. Both are important safety features that work as they should. The standard carbide blade cut smoothly and was much better than I expected for an OEM blade

I can highly recommend the DW718 to anyone requiring a high quality large capacity compound sliding miter saw.

Makita LS1016L Review

Click here to get it from Amazon.com for only $499.00

Makita LS1016LThe Makita LS1016L 10-Inch Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw with Laser changes the game with its outstanding features, like the powerful 15 AMP 115V direct drive motor, electronic speed control and the largest crown molding cutting capacity in its class.

The LS1016L’s direct drive gear box motor delivers 15 AMPs of power, enough to prevent bogging down and slipping, and it does not require as much maintenance as belt-driven saws. Electronic Speed Control gives you a constant speed under load as the motor ramps up torque as needed and this results in smoother and higher-quality cutting.

The Makita LS1016L has a patented retractable guard system that is engineered for increased vertical cutting capacity, with 6 and 5/8 inches for crown molding cutting and 4 and 3/4 inches baseboard cutting.

You can get this Makita compound miter saw from Amazon.com for 50% off of retail price! Click here now to get it at this fantastic price.

The laser on the LS1016L is very accurate and quite a time saver, in that it saves you from sighting the blade along a mark for every cut. The saw is fairly light and the handle areas on the sides are comfortable with well rounded corners, which makes it easy to carry the Makita LS1016L around.

These are just some of the features of the Makita LS1016L:

The Makita LS1016L’s bevel gear drive now has intermediate reduction gears which raise the motor housing higher above the saw blade arbor than the old model and also reduces the saw blade speed down to 3200 rpm. The addition of a double handled bevel lock lever makes it easy to operate regardless of from which side of the saw you approach this control. One of the owners had this to say about the Makita LS1016L:

The miter table and lock system works beautifully; you simply set the desired angle and turn the knob counter clockwise and a spring loaded lock pops into place.

The soft start feature of the LS1016L get the blade from rest to full speed very quickly and with absolute smoothness. The gearbox drive is very quiet and the constant speed drive system gives the saw an almost effortless feel and it never sounds like the Makita LS1016L is working very hard.

Cuts never bind unnecessarily and the excellent 60T carbide blade (included) makes beautiful cuts, very smooth. I think the lower cutting speed of the blade (much lower RPM than some other saws) helps greatly with keeping vibrations out of the blade. This saw cuts SMOOTH.

The handles in the base are large, rounded, and easy on the hands when carrying. It also folds up into a relatively compact package.

Overall I’m happy with my purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this saw.

Some great features of the DeWalt DW715 are:

Overall quality on the DW715 is impressive. To summarize: the outstanding features to like are the cam miter lock, miter scale quality, detent over-ride, vernier miter adjustment, blade brake, light weight, and powerful 15A motor. Even the included 40 tooth blade is surprisingly good.

One of the owner reviews has this to say about the DeWalt DW715:

It seems they got all the details right on this saw. Miter and bevel were perfectly aligned out of the box.

The bevel stops at 0 and 45 degrees make it easy to switch between common angles, but can be slid back after loosening a screw to allow a few more degrees either way. There’s also a flip-out stop for 33.9 degree bevel which is also solidly made. The bevel locking knob-thing is nice and big, making it easy to grip and turn. The adjustable fence can be quickly adjusted with a single knob, but is still very sturdy when tightened down.

Miter adjustment is rock solid. The quick detents have no wiggle room at all, and the detent override makes it easy to adjust to any angle. The simple push-down miter lock is easy to use, and once locked I was unable to force it to slip to either side.

The locking pin which keeps the saw head down when you’re carrying it can be slid in and out easily. There are also good hand holds on each side of the base with rounded edges so they don’t dig into your hands.

Everything about this saw is sturdy, and all the adjustments can be made with very little effort. You can’t go wrong with this saw.

Here are some of the outstanding features of the DeWalt DW713:

This saw is very solidly built, has a nice and flat table and it makes square and clean cuts even with the included blade, which is fine for most jobs. The saw is a handy size and the carrying handle is very nice and makes it easy to carry around.

Here is what one of the owners had to say about the DeWalt DW715:

I have owned 3 other miter saws, Craftsman, Hitachi and Makita and by far and away the DeWalt is the best.

First, the quality of the construction is much better as it has less plastic pieces where it matters, table, fence, miter gauge and back throat.

Second the miter gauge is the absolute best as it is metal and it has all the relevant notches for angles. Plus the angles are much more accurate than the other saws.

Third the dust collection is excellent even without a vac attached. The others tend to allow saw dust to go everywhere while the Dewalt shoots it straight out the back.

Fourth the quality of the cut is better right out of the box with the blade it came with. While this is easily changed with the other saws it was nice.

I cut primarily base board molding and crown molding with my saw. The base board molding is 3 1/2″ and the crown is 3″. No problem with cut sizes or having enough capacity available to do the job.
